Bradford couple make it their business to be Fighting Fit

Fighting Fit, a new business in Eccleshill supplying natural diet supplements to body builders, boxers and martial arts enthusiasts is living up to its name.
The venture was launched earlier this year by Bradford couple Den and Collette Hill, who for many years dreamed of turning their interest in fitness and nutrition into a business they could run together.
“Diet is 80 per cent of training,” says Den. “The supplements we sell are made from natural ingredients and should be used as part of a disciplined exercise and training regime. We are always pleased to provide free advice to our customers.”
With five children, aged between two and twelve, the couple already have their hands full but they still find time for their business and work out in the gym several times a week.
Both enter national and regional bodybuilding competitions and Collette has won several trophies.
When planning their business they first contacted Business Link, who referred them to Bradford Council’s Kickstart enterprise programme. This has already helped more than 1,100 new businesses begin trading across the District.
George Nash, a Kickstart business adviser with ATL Enterprise, Manningham, guided them through their business planning and helped them obtain marketing materials through Kickstart’s popular professional services scheme.
He also introduced them to the Bradford-based Business Enterprise Fund, where business finance adviser Matthew Foote provided mentoring in financial management. They also successfully applied for an Enterprise Fund loan to cover some of their set-up costs.
“We’ve had some great support from George, Matthew and the Kickstart team and would recommend the programme to anyone thinking of starting a business in the Bradford District,” says Den.
The enterprising couple are now planning to launch a Fighting Fit clothing range and are turning the upper floor of their premises into a product showroom.
Their aim is for their shop to be perceived as the first choice supplier of natural diet supplements and clothing for the region’s athletes and body builders.
